William A. Fillman, 75, of Avon, IL passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019. He was born Saturday, September 25, 1943 in Kewanee, IL the son of Harry A. and Alberta F. (Mooday) Fillman. He married Ruth Chase on October 14, 1977 in Rock Island, IL.
Bill is survived by his wife Ruth Fillman of Avon, IL; daughters Cindy Hallam of Longmont, CO, Lisa Spilsbury of Norwalk, CA, and Michele Fillman of Las Vegas, NV; sons Adam and Ivan Folger, both of Avon, IL; grandchildren Allyson Garbacz of Las Vegas, NV, David Hallam of Las Vegas, NV, Nicholas Hallam of Kyle, TX, Tyler Hallam of Longmont, CO, Flannery Hallam of Longmont, CO, Kayleigh Flanagan of Dallas TX, Jessica Flanagan of Orlando, FL, Andrew Dickneite of Las Vegas, NV, Brandon Dickneite of Seattle, WA, Austin Folger of Avon, IL, Aiden Folger of Avon, IL and Lacey Folger of Avon, IL; great grandchildren Avery and Isabella Adcock of Dallas, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill graduated from Yorkwood High School. He worked at Winkler Feed and Monmouth Stockyards. He was a welder at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg, IL and over the road truck driver. He was also a farmer, sheep herder and chicken whisperer. Bill was a lover of both guns and people. His passion was shooting with his friends and fellow SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) Gun Club members of which he was a devoted member. He built and enjoyed shooting black powder guns. A true lover of nature, Bill enjoyed camping and gardening, and watched over many flocks of sheep and chickens. He loved family adventures, including the “gathering of the nuts” and the crazy Fillman Family Camping trips. Above all, Bill loved his family and always put them first. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
Funeral service will be Saturday, January 12, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Avon, IL. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until hour of service Saturday. Burial will be in the Bushnell Cemetery, Bushnell, IL. Memorials may be made to the ILLOWA Irregulars of the Milan Rifle Club at 3611 73rdSt. Moline, IL 61265 c/o James Champion.
