Warren Lee White

Warren Lee White, 92, of Avon, IL passed away Wednesday January 31, 2018, 2:55 a.m. at the

Knox County Nursing Home Knoxville, IL.  He was born Wednesday February 18, 1925 in Fairview, IL the son of Nicholas and Edna (Edmonson) White.  He married Wanda J. Klopfenstein on June 15, 1952 in Nashua, IA; she preceded him in death on December 28, 2011.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children David White of Avon, IL, Lori (Don) Smith of Knoxville, IL, and Keri (Don) Anderson of Avon, IL; 5 grandchildren Brandon (Kari) White of Andover, IA, Martina Smith of Vallejo, CA, Morgan (Bobby) Dunn of Rock Island, IL, Matthew (Rachel) Anderson of Avon, IL and Malinda (Chris) Parr of Avon, IL; 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 3 brothers.

He was born in Fairview and raised in Avon since the age of 4 and graduated from Avon High School.  After graduation, he went into the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Hawaii after Pearl Harbor.  He served from 1942 to 1946 during WWII.   He worked at the Galesburg Research Hospital in the boiler room, Gale Products, and Maytag until becoming a Rural letter Carrier for Route 2 in Avon in 1964.  He worked the same route for 25 years until his retirement in 1989.  He was an active member of the Rural Letter Carrier Association serving as delegate at both State and National levels.  He was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church, the Avon Fire Department, and the Avon Masonic Lodge where he was a 50-year member.   He was an Avid Cardinal Fan.

Graveside service will be Saturday February 3, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Avon Cemetery Avon, IL.  Visitation will be Friday eve February 2, 2018 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL with a Masonic service at 5:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Avon United Methodist Church and or Hospice Compassus.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville is in charge of the arrangements.
