Good Hope

Scott L. Ault, 87, of Good Hope, passed away on April 20, 2023 at 11:45 at his home. He was born on April 9, 1936, in Roseville, IL, the son of Leonard Franklin and Lula Redfern Ault. He married Marilyn Kay Monroe on March 9, 1958 in Roseville and she survives.

He is also survived by his children, Sheila (Thomas) Melton of Avon, Lissa (John) Cullen of Macomb, Michelle (Greg) Barr of Mobile, AL, Van (Gail) Ault of Roseville, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and brothers Charles Ault of Roseville and Donald Ault of Naples, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

Mr. Ault grew up and spent his life in the Roseville and Good Hope area. He competed and excelled in football as a student at Roseville High School, earning conference honors. He was also a Golden Gloves Boxer in high school. He was active in the FFA, serving as chapter president. He won the Illinois State Fair Governors Award Sheep Shearing Competition. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany. After completing service to his country, Mr. Ault returned to the Roseville area to begin his career as a farmer.

Mr. Ault was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He started Circle A Farm where he raised deer and elk. He was a founding member of the North American Elk Breeders Association, serving a term as President. He was also a member of the Warren County Fair Board, serving one term as President and was an avid tractor puller.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the funeral home. A time of visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital Hospice or the National Wildlife Federation. Wise Family Funeral Home-Roseville is handling the arrangements.
