Ruby Josephine Paris

Ruby Josephine (VanTine) Paris, 90, formerly of Kirkwood, IL passed away Monday March 20, 2017, 11:05 a.m. at the Oak Lane Nursing Home, Stronghurst, IL. She was born Sunday January 30, 1927 the 11th child born to Truman and Pearl (White) VanTine in rural Gladstone, IL. She married PFC James B. Paris on August 1, 1946 in Monmouth, IL. Jim and Josephine met through the USO, where Jo volunteered. Jim proceeded her in death on September 8, 2008.

Those left to cherish her memory are three sons: Jim of Kirkwood, IL, John (Judy) of Prescott, AZ, and Jerry (Barbara) of Chino Valley, AZ; two daughters: Jane (Dean) Watkins of Monmouth, IL and Janet (Lee) Beckham of Campbellsville, KY; 11 grandchildren: Julie, JoAnne, Jera, Jocelyn, Justin, Yvonne, Alex, Rachel, Adam, Dustin, and Matt; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Roy VanTine of Stonghurst, IL and Gerald VanTine of Gladstone, IL; one sister Helen VanTine of Monmouth, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter (Peggy), parents, daughter-in-law Janet E. Paris, brothers and sisters (Eleanore Detrick, Nellie Grafton, Edwin VanTine, Reah Carner, infant Leah VanTine, Zelda VanTine, Truman Luther VanTine (WWII in Belgium), Robert VanTine).

She was a member of the Kirkwood Westminster Presbyterian Church, and a former member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be Friday March 24, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at the Wise Family Hoover Hall Funeral Home Monmouth, IL. Burial will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be Thursday evening March 23, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Wise Family Hoover Hall Funeral Home Monmouth, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 765 in Stronghurst, IL or Kirkwood Westminster United Presbyterian Church.
