Roy L Frakes

Roy L. Frakes, 89, of Avon, Illinois, passed away at 3:56 p.m., Monday, June 2, 2025, at the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, Illinois. He was born November 7, 1935 in Birmingham Township, Illinois, the son of George and Ida (Coker) Frakes. He graduatedfrom Industry High School.

Roy was a veteran.

He married JoAnn Miller on April 16, 1960 and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2024.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Robbie (Bonnie) Frakes of Washington, Illinois and Kimberly (Doug) Baker of Bloomington, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Wendy Frakes;grandchildren, Nick Baker, Nicole Paul, Roman Frakes, Rachel Frakes and Raquel Frakes; great-grandchildren, Delaney Baker, Paige Baker, Jackson Frakes, Lucas Frakes, Hudson Paul and Palmer Paul; siblings, Kay (Dick) Schones and Ralph (Carolyn) Frakes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, JoAnn; one son, Roy L. “Bill” Frakes, brothers, Bob, Richard and Roger Frakes and one sister, Florence Huff.

Roy worked for OMC in Galesburg for 20 years. He later worked at Avon High School as a custodian for many years. He enjoyed golf, bowling, gardening and playing horseshoes. He loved watching sports, especially golf and football. He loved family gatherings, especially his wife’s home cooked holiday meals. He also loved playing cards with his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Hospice or the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
