Roy Dean Adkisson, 89, of Roseville, IL passed away on Wednesday February 28, 2018, after a brief illness. He was born December 23, 1928 in Monmouth, IL the son of Marvin G. and Edith (Foster) Adkisson. On November 14, 1954, he married Helen Marie Lauver at Raritan Reformed Church, she preceded him on August 5, 2006. He later married Dorothy Hall-Adkisson on March 21, 2009, she preceded him on March 21, 2017.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children Tara Gina (Richard) Scruggs of Talbot, TN, Michele (George) Paras of Naperville, IL and Shawn (Bobbi Jo) Adkisson of Roseville, IL; 7 grandchildren Fiona and Kieran Scruggs, Nicholas, Rebecca, and Mathew Paras, and Kelli and Joe Adkisson; one brother Jim (Lorna) Adkisson of Roseville, IL, sister-in-laws Dorothy Smith of Aledo, IL, Betty Weishaar of Springfield, IL, Jean Murphy of Peoria, IL and Evelyn Cain of New Stanton, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a very special uncle (Seth Adkisson), his wives (Helen Lauver of 52 years, and Dorothy Hall-Adkisson).
Roy D. graduated from Roseville High School and attended Colorado A & M University and Monmouth College. Roy was in the Army National Guard. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was also in the Air National Guard of Colorado. Roy farmed his entire life. He started farming when he was in high school in Ellison Township, then in Kirkwood, IL and lastly on the family farm in Roseville, IL. He was an avid livestock producer and grain farmer. Roy was a Mason and a member of the Kirkwood and present member of the Roseville Masonic Lodge AMAF 579.
Graveside services will be Tuesday March 27, 2018 11:00 a.m. at the Roseville Township Cemetery Roseville, IL. Masonic service will be Monday March 26, 2018, 6:00 p.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL. Memorials may be made to the Roseville Masonic Lodge and or the Swan Creek Fire Dept.
