Roland Lee Singleton

Roland “Grumpy” Lee Singleton, 82, of Avon, IL passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019, 4:14 a.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Peoria, IL.  He was born Saturday, May 23, 1936 in Avon, IL the son of Cleo and Bessie (Woods) Singleton.  He married Edra Jean Young in Prairie City, IL on December 15, 1974.  Jeannie preceded him in death in 2006.

He is survived by his children James (Cheri) Singleton of Zimmerman, MN, Michael (Melanie) Singleton of Dayton, OH, and Edra Renee Singleton of Avon, IL; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; one brother Tom Singleton and one sister Lola Gillette.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, wife, and 7 brothers (Francis, Kenneth, Floyd, Earl, Donald, Herman, and John).

He served in the U.S. Army and later served in the U.S. Air Force.  He worked and retired from NTN Bower, Macomb, IL.

Cremation rites have been accorded, memorial service will be Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Avon Federated Church with military honors to follow.  Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Church.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Roland Singleton Memorial Fund.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home Avon, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
