Richard E. "Dick" Fears

Richard E. Fears, 99, of Roseville, IL passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019, 4:05 a.m. at the Roseville Rehab and Nursing Center Roseville, IL.  He was born Saturday, January 3, 1920 in Spickard, MO, the son of W.D. and Mammie (Broyles) Fears.  He married Beth Wylde on December 31, 1940 in Frontier, MO., she preceded him in death on August 9, 1988.  He later married Lila (Wicks) Carlson on May 29, 2007

Dick is survived by his wife Lila of Roseville, 1 grandson, Rick L. Fears of Newman; 2 granddaughters, 2 great grandchildren, Chase and Taylor of Champion; step children, Cheryl Armstrong, Rodney Carlson, Carol Bishop and David Carlson; 10 step grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren; and his sweet Companion Sushi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1stwife, 1 son (Richard Fears), 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Dick was born in Spickard, MO and raised around Trenton, MO.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII (European Theater).  In 1946 he moved to Roseville, where he has lived since. He worked for many years as a locksmith tech for banks.  He was a member of the Roseville Baptist Church.  He was also a member of the Roseville American Legion post #614 and the Roseville Masonic Lodge #519 AF & AM.  He also served on the Roseville Fire Department.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 7, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery Roseville, IL, Roseville American Legion Post 614 will officiate Military Honors at the grave. Memorials to the Roseville American Legion Nursing Scholarship and/or the Alzheimer’s Association.  Please sign the online guest book at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville is in charge of the arrangements.
