Owen C Jones

Owen C. Jones, 86, of Abingdon, Illinois, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2024 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 2, 1937, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Claude H. and Irene M. (Bloom) Jones. He graduated from Valley High School in 1955 and later attended Iowa State University.

Owen married Linda Crane on October 29,1961 in the Abingdon United Methodist Church and she survives.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Jones of Abingdon; son, Steven (Vicky) Jones of Abingdon; granddaughter, Cara (Cooper) Thomas of Portage, Wisconsin; sister, Elaine Jones of Abingdon; nephew Christopher (Tracy) Jones of Evergreen, Colorado; nieces, Laura (Paul) Rohling of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sarah (Rory) Sazama of Galesburg, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Elizabeth Jones; brothers, Karl, Arlan and Philip Jones and a grandnephew Owen Jones.

Owen farmed in the London Mills and Yates City areas for many years. He was also a welder for Butler Manufacturing for 20 years until his retirement. Owen, his brothers and his son also operated Bridgeport Milling Company in London Mills for many years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Cremation rites have been accorded with no services planned at this time. A private family interment will take place in the East Midway Cemetery, London Mills, Illinois, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the London Mills Fire & Ambulance Service and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Roseville, is handling the arrangements.
