Neal Howard Morgan, of Galesburg, formerly of North Henderson and Alexis, Illinois, passed away at 5:07 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 14, 1953, in Aledo, Illinois, the son of Dean and Lois (Stocking) Morgan. He was raised and educated in rural North Henderson and graduated from Alexis High School in 1971. He later attended Carl Sandburg College.
He met Kim Sotelo in 2001, and they were married on April 19, 2008, at their home in Knoxville, Illinois.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Kim of Galesburg; children, Levi Morgan of Alexis, Laney (Casey) Maust of Le Claire, Iowa, Nicole (Kip Rawlings) Chansler of Abingdon, Illinois and Joni (Matt) Winegar of Maquoketa, Iowa; grandchildren, Colum Morgan, Sutton and Charley Maust, Owen Chansler, and Ethan, Eli, and Emrik Winegar; sister, Kerin (Jamie) Nonnenmann of Moline, Illinois; nephew Daniel Nonnenmann; and one niece, Rebecca (Noah) Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a huge fan of cars and trucks and learning everything he could about them. He liked to tinker in the garage, swim in their pool and enjoyed live comedy. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He never met a stranger and could talk to everyone.
Neal drove a semi for most of his adult life and drove locally for M&W Ag Service. He most recently worked for Thermogas and Cottom’s Trucking. All the truckers knew him by his CB handle of “Redeye.”
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, North Henderson, Illinois. Memorial contributions for cancer research and treatment may be made to the Marsha Morgan Family Trust at Scripps Health San Diego. Moore Memorial Home, Alexis, is handling the arrangements.
