Mary M. Lincoln, 91, of Monmouth, IL formerly of Avon, IL died Sunday May 1st, 2016, 1:45 p.m. at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL. She was born July 7, 1924, in rural Little York, IL, in Warren County, the daughter of Ora L. and Minnie (Bryant) Melton.

Mary attended Duck Creek School in Mercer County. She graduated from Little York High School in 1942, and later from Western Illinois university with a B.S. in Education where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society.

She married Deen S. Lincoln on August 12, 1951, at the Little York Church in Little York, IL.

Surviving are two daughters Virginia "Ginger" (David) Lewis of Canton, IL, and Marianne (Rob) Peirce of Cameron, IL, son-in-law, Paul Seward of Midlothian, VA; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jon Fleetwood) Nienhaus, Christopher (Tamee) Lincoln, Ryan (Courtney) Peirce, Marc (Beth) Peirce, David (Kayla) Lewis, Erin (Andy) Ogden, and Abby (Travis) Sykes; 20 great grandchildren, Clare O'Riordan, Jacob Nienhaus, Noah and Vienna Fleetwood, Christian, Damian, and Gavian Reall, Max, Blaise, Jack, and Avery Peirce, Nolan and Stella Peirce, Audrey Lewis, Emerson, Gracelyn, and Benson Ogden, Katlynn Villarreal, Parker and Sarah Sykes; one sister, Sarah Burns of Monmouth, IL, and a sister-in-law, Helen Melton of Little York, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Sarah Jane Seward; three brothers, Murl, Herbert "Dutch" and Gerald "Jerry" Melton; two sisters, Lelia Olson and Dorothy Miller; one great-grandson, Sullivan Ogden.

Mary was a retired teacher. She began her teaching career teaching in Sunbeam and Duck Creek Rural Schools in Mercer County. She also taught at Roseville and Avon Elementary Schools. She and her husband farmed in the Avon Community until the time of his death.

Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth. She was a former member of the Roseville United Methodist Church, Warren Co. Historical Society, Warren Co. Retired Teachers, OSF Hospital Auxiliary in Monmouth, Roseville Woman's Club, the Science and Art Club in Roseville, and the Hypatian Club and Olive Sewing Club in Avon.

Graveside service will be in the Avon Cemetery Thursday May 5th 2016, 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life service at Fairview Center United Methodist Church, Monmouth, IL at 11:30 am.Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 4th 2016 at the Wise Family ~ Hoover Hall Funeral Home, Monmouth, IL.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G.
