Mary J Gibney

Mary J. Gibney, 65, of Avon, Illinois passed away at 12:15 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2025 in her home. She was born April 7, 1960 in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ronald and Mary Lou (Vanoss) Hart. She was raised and educated in Racine, graduating from Horlick High School in 1978.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter; Mary (Jose) Rivera of Avon; grandchildren, Amya, Romeo, and Anthony; great-grandchildren, Elayna and Jayce; siblings, Vicky, Judy, Dawn, and Eugene.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rachael and brother, Ronald.

Mary worked as a CNA in many nursing homes for 40+ years. She loved rummage sales, eating out in restaurants, and liked trying new recipes at home. She was a cat lover and collector of many things. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her bestie Tammy Benson. She was a spunky and unique woman and will be missed by all who knew her.

Cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of Mary’s life to be held at a later date. The family requests for memorial tree planting in lieu of monetary or floral donations. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
