Martha W. Davis

Martha W. Davis, 94 of Avon, IL passed away Monday August 24, 2015, 3:24 am at the Care Center of Abingdon, Abingdon, IL. She was born Tuesday November 30, 1920, in Avon, IL, the daughter of Clyde and Marie Lake Welsh. She married Royce M. Davis on July 21, 1945 in Galesburg, IL. He preceded her on May 16, 2011.

She is survived by one sister in law Martha Orwig of Avon, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, husband, her only daughter (Kathryn Davis)

She was born and raised in Avon, IL where she lived her entire life. She graduated from Avon High School in 1938, and graduated Knox College in 1942, while at Knox College she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She taught English in Media, Prairie City and Avon Schools. Her last years were teaching Jr. High English in Avon, IL. She taught a total of 34 years. She was a member of the Avon Federated Church.

Funeral service will be Saturday August 29, 2015, 10:00 am at the Avon Federated Church where Pastor Jon Prain will officiate. Family will receive friends Friday August 28, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Avon Federated Church. Burial will be in the Avon Cemetery, Avon, IL.
