Marna Mae (Allison) Steach

Marna Mae Steach, 84, of Avon, IL passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 10:07 a.m. at her home surrounded by family.  She was born Sunday, August 2, 1936, the daughter of Dale and Edythe (Wynkoop) Allison in Avon, Il.  She married Daniel Lee Steach July 30, 1955, in Hernando, MS.  He preceded her on May 21, 2009.

Marna is survived by her children, Mike (Teresa) Steach of Bloomington, Allison (John) Alden of Avon, Sam Steach of Normal and Marnie (Brent) Dugan of Avon; eleven grandchildren: Nick, Jessica, Samantha, Joshua, Kayla, Austin, Cade, Marissa, Tyler, Jake, and Luke; also, five great grandchildren and one sister, Janeene Coupland of Galesburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Barbara Sheckler.

Marna graduated from Avon High School in 1954.  She then attended Radiology Technician school at St. Johns in Springfield, IL.  She worked at the Galesburg Research Hospital for nearly twenty years.  Marna then worked at Saunders Hospital and Clinic until she retired just prior to her 79th Birthday.  She continued to serve on the Saunders Board.  She was a member of the Avon Federated Church. She was an avid reader and a great supporter of her grandchildren’s activities.  She was a Cardinal and Illini fan.  Marna was a great cook, despite her rheumatoid arthritis, and will be remembered for her wonderful pies and prime rib.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020, held at the Avon Cemetery.  Visitation will precede the service from 11:30am to 1:30 pm at the Wise Family Funeral Home in Avon.  Memorials may be made to A-Town Athletics and/or the Avon Library.  Per Covid-19 regulations masks will be required.  Online condolences may be made at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com .  Wise Family Funeral Home in Avon is in charge of arrangements.
