Linda L (Smith) Kniss

Linda L. (Smith) Kniss, 75, of Knoxville, Illinois, passed away at 1:18 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born March 7, 1949, in Avon, Illinois, the daughter of Floyd and Dorothy (Lockwood) Smith. She was raised and educated in Avon.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, James Kniss of Wahoo, NE; daughters, Laura (Terry) Hoyle of Knoxville, Davida Ecklund-Kniss of Galesburg, Nancy Kniss of Galesburg; grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas, Dylan, Isaac, Olivia, Allison, Ethan; sister, Sandra Brittingham of Galesburg; sisters-in-law, Patti Smith and Ruth Smith of Galesburg.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Floyd E. Smith, Gary L. Smith, Dennis Smith and James Smith; one sister, Barbara Smith, brother-in-law Donald Brittingham.

Linda waitressed for many restaurants in the Galesburg area. She worked in housekeeping and was also a CNA in the area nursing homes. Her greatest joy was her family and she enjoyed spending time with them all. She loved having breakfast at Perkins and watching old time television shows.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2024. A time of visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services at the cemetery.  Interment will be in the Avon Cemetery, Avon, Illinois. Memorial contributions in Linda’s name may be made to the wishes of the family and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
