Kevin Leland Mullen, 69, of Avon, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born August 18, 1956, in Woodbury, NJ, the son of Orville and Joan (McDermet) Mullen. He was educated at Kingsway High School where he graduated in 1974.
He married Teresa (Severns) Duus on June 15, 2002, and she survives.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Teresa of Avon; mother, Joan Mullen; children, Kevin Mullen, Jr., Melissa (Joe) Roberts, Jessica Duus, Nicholas (Jess) Duus, Rebecca Duus; siblings, Mitchell(Melissa) Mullen, David (Cathy) Mullen, Cindy (George) Ketterlinus, Kelly (John Paul) Reeve, Jodi Mullen; 12 grandchildren, Christian, Joseph, Alyssa, Matthew, Gabriel, Ayden, Isaiah, Skyler, Eli, Mike Jr., Connor, Xavier, Isabel, Hailey and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Michael Duus.
Kevin was a self-employed contractor for many years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, shooting pool, fishing, hunting and golfing. He collected bells, albums and marbles as a hobby. He also liked to garden, growing vegetables and canning with Teresa. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren and having family cookouts.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Kevin’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Storm Shelter Pub in Avon. Memorial Contributions may be made to the wishes of the family and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
