Joseph Lawrence “Larry” Larkin, 73, of Roseville, IL passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020, 4:06 p.m. at the OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth, IL.  He was born Wednesday, March 5, 1947, in Monmouth, IL the son of John Patrick and Mary Margaret (Tully) Larkin.  He married Linda Lou Nicoli on October 25, 1969 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Raritan, IL and were blessed with three sons.

Larry is survived by his wife Linda of Roseville; sons, Michael Andrew (Brianne) Larkin of Worthing, SD, John Robert (Jade) Larkin of Abingdon, and William Edward (Kelly) Larkin of Galesburg; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Liliana, Kaylee, Emma, Madalyn, Joshua, Ayden, Olivia;

One brother, William Eugene ‘Gene” (Karen) Larkin of Roseville, one sister-in-law, Connie Larkin of Viola, one brother-in-law, James (Deanna) Nicoli; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother (John Edward Larkin), father and mother-in-law (Bobby & Mary Nicoli).

Larry graduated from Roseville High School May of 1965.  He attended an Engineering Technician Training Course at the University of Illinois, Champaign, IL during the summer of 1965; afterward working for the State of Illinois Highway Dept. in Peoria, until he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving from May of 1966 to May of 1968, during which he served a year tour in Vietnam.  Larry worked at Maytag in Galesburg for 30 years, retiring in 2003.  Upon retirement he continued to work part-time for Sonny’s Repair and Liqui-Grow, as well as lending his expertise helping his children on many of their projects.

Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, cousin and friend to many.  He will be remembered for his kind soul, quiet sense of humor and his handyman skills.

Larry was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Raritan, IL.  He served as an usher, was on the cemetery board and was always willing to lend a hand working on and helping with church projects.  He was a member of the Lawson Babbitt Post 614 in Roseville, IL for 46 years.

Larry loved any and all things that pertained to family.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, March 12, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 4:00 p.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home Roseville, IL.  Burial will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Raritan, IL with Military Honors at the Grave.  Memorials may be made to Roseville American Legion Post 614 and or Roseville Community fund.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Family Roseville, IL are in charge of the arrangements.
