John V. "Hoodoo" Casteel

John V. "HooDoo" Casteel 60, of Roseville, IL passed away Sunday July 3, 2016 at Kindred Hospital Peoria, IL. He was born March 30, 1956 in Monmouth, IL the son of Gilmer L. and Elli Kaschta Casteel. He married Dawn Jones on December 5, 1981.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Dawn of Roseville, IL; children John "J.R." (Jenna) Casteel of Roseville, IL, Molly (Scott) Davis of Normal, IL; and Mandy (Jason) Sears of Roseville, IL; grandchildren John "J.D.", Jayleigh, and Annabelle; siblings Diana (Robert) Riley of Monmouth, IL and Michael (Janise) Casteel of Roseville, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister (Margarete McElroy) and 2 nieces.

He graduated from Roseville High School in 1974. He was a member of the Roseville Fire Dept. for over 30 years and the Roseville Jaycee's. He played slow pitch softball. He loved to fish, mushroom, and garden. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed time spent at the river with family and friends.

Funeral service will be Friday July 8, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at the Roseville United Methodist Church, the family request casual attire or your favorite Cubs shirt. Rev. Dennis Powers officiating. Burial will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening July 7, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Roseville United Methodist Church.
