Helen E. VanTine, 89, of Monmouth, IL passed away Wednesday May 30, 2018, 5:45 p.m. at the Henderson County Retirement Center, Stronghurst, IL. She was born Thursday November 15, 1928 in rural Gladstone, IL the youngest daughter of Truman and Pearl (White) VanTine. She attended rural schools in Henderson County until 1942 when she moved with her parents to Monmouth, IL. Graduating Monmouth High School in 1946, She has lived and worked in Monmouth since, her latest work being legal service at the law firm of Stansell, Whitman and Baber from which she retired in 1997 after 25 years. In the course of this work, she also served as a secretary to the Board of Commissioners of Monmouth Park District for 20 years. She was a member of Heritage United Presbyterian Church, serving in the past as president and treasurer of its Woman’s Association and has served as deacon, trustee and Sunday School superintendent. She had previously attended Ninth Avenue United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading, music, gardening and pursuing family history. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her brother Gerald VanTine of rural Gladstone, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, 4 brothers and 6 sisters.
Graveside service will be Wednesday June 27, 2018, 10:30 a.m. in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery Monmouth, IL. Burial will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery Monmouth, IL.
