Helen Lucille (Kinney) Campbell, 85, Little York, died Tuesday evening, June 26, 2012 at 7:20 pm at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. She was born on January 31, 1927 at home to Henry and Frances (Munson) Kinney.
She attended grade school at Duck Creek Country School and graduated from Little York High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked at Monmouth Trust and Savings Bank in Monmouth.
She married Clyde Campbell on February 6, 1947 in Monmouth, IL and they lived and farmed in Warren and Henderson Counties for the next 65 years.
Helen's pride and joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. They were treated to homemade chicken and noodles, special salads and cookies whenever they came to visit.
Besides helping Clyde farm, Helen worked at the Circuit Clerk's Office in Oquawka for 15 years. She also co-owned and co-operated The Cranberry Door, a gift and flower shop in Little York.
Volunteerism was a way of life for Helen. She spent hours organizing funeral dinners and soup luncheons for Little Cedar United Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She also belonged to The Farmerettes, a local group of women who assisted many causes in the Little York area. Helen spent many hours working as an OSF Auxiliary volunteer in their gift shop. Helen was a member of the Illinois Porkettes Board in the 1980's and a 4-H leader for many years.
Surviving Helen are her husband of 65 years, Clyde, daughter, Barbara (Steve) Determan, Early, IA, sons, Russell (Shari) Campbell and Greg (Sue) Campbell, both of Little York, IL. Grandchildren Krystal (Matt) Jungmann, Seaton, IL, Scott (Lisa) Campbell, Little York, IL, Andy Determan, Kansas City, MO, Dan Determan, Orlando, FL, Kourtney Determan, Ames, IA, Hillary, Cassie, and JC Campbell, Little York, IL, great grandchildren Jack, Luke and Kate Jungmann, Seaton, IL. Also surviving are her sisters, Marilyn Johnson, Monmouth, IL and Gladys (Jim) Free, Little York, IL; sister-in-law Mildred (Robert) Garland, Monmouth, IL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, John, her parents, Henry and Frances Kinney, and brothers Richard and Robert Kinney.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Little Cedar Presbyterian Church, Little York with Pastor Phil Cooper. Burial will be in Little York Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where her family will be present from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Helen L.
