Geraldine (Geri) Chewning, 93, of Monmouth, died December 24, 2012, at The Monmouth Nursing Home.
She was born December 22, 1919, in Aledo, the daughter of Lute and Truie (Walters) Enslow. She was raised and educated in Aledo where she graduated from Aledo High School.
Geri married Stuart Morris on April 17, 1937, and he preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and had worked at the grocery stores she and her husband, Stuart, owned. She enjoyed her family, gardening, her home, and church work. She was a member of Heritage United Presbyterian Church where she was active before her failing health. In her earlier years she enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and spent winters in the South.
Her family includes one daughter, Barbara J. (Verlin) Anderson of Greenville, SC, one son, Dr. George Nelson Morris of Monmouth, daughter-in-law, Carole Morris, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart, a son, Shirl L., a sister and a brother.
Cremation has been accorded. Entombment will be in the Monmouth Mausoleum. Online condolences may be left at hooverhall.com.
