Florence Marie Shuler, 99, of Monmouth died 5:55 P.M. Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth.

She was born July 9, 1912 in Kirkwood, Illinois the daughter of Newt Fuller and Sarah Margaret (Delaney) Akers. She was reared and educated where she graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1931 and graduated from Brown's Business College in Rock Island.

Florence married Vern Shuler in Davenport, Iowa on May 4, 1939 and he died June 11, 1975,

She had worked as a secretary for a number of years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and volunteering at Strom Center.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth and the Friendship Rebekah Lodge #22 in Monmouth, which she joined in 1939.

Surviving are her son, Arnold Ray (Debbie) Shuler of Monmouth; step-daughter, Marjorie Thornton of Monmouth; grandson, Christopher Glenn Shuler of Monmouth; granddaughter, Miranda Marie (Chris Carson) Shuler of Monmouth, several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; brother, Lonnie (Freeda) Akers of Brookville, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, sister, Helen Christensen and three brothers preceded her in death, two in infancy.

Friends may call on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel where her family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. A Rebekah service will be held at 1:30 P.M. followed by graveside services in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left for the Rainbow Riders. Visitation: 12:00 to 1:30 P.M. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. Service: A Rebekah Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, March 2, 2012 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth.
