Evelyn L. Gearhart

Evelyn L. Gearhart 93  of Media, IL died August 22, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born August 26, 1924 in Larchland, IL the daughter of Arthur and Fay (Simmons) Ray.  She married Wayne R. Gearhart May 4, 1945 in Galesburg, Il. He preceded her June 4, 2000.

She is survived by her sons Larry (Linda) Gearhart of Media, Jerry (Janet) Gearhart of Midway City, CA and Tom (Cheryl) Gearhart of Raritan.  Four Grandchildren Chad, Breanne, Tim, and Travis; Three Great Grandchildren Blake, Tyler, Izzy; and One sister Margaret Worley of Rockford, Il.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband

She attended Western Illinois Teaching College and received her Teaching certificate.  She taught school in several country schools.  She also worked as a teacher aid in Media and also southern. Evelyn was a bookkeeper Raritan Feed and Farm Supply.  She also worked at the Raritan Grocery store.  She served on numerous boards and committees in Henderson county.  She was a member of Raritan Baptist Church.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Raritan Baptist Church.  Visitation, the family will receive friends one hour prior to service.    Burial will be in Raritan Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Raritan Baptist Church and or the Raritan Fire Department and First Responders.  Online condolences may be made at www.wisefamilyfuneralhome.com.  Wise Family Funeral Home in Roseville is in charge of arrangements.
