Esther Marie Thomas

Esther Marie Thomas 89 of Roseville died August 5, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at the Roseville Rehabilitation and HealthCare Center.  She was born at home March 23, 1931 the daughter of Merlin and Mary (Markey) Foresman.  She married James E. Thomas May 14, 1948.  He preceded her in death June 26, 1993.

She is survived by her children Bonnie Gipe of Smithshire, Nancy (Carl) St. Clair of Moline, Penny McElroy of Roseville, Patrick (Cherilyn) Thomas of Roseville, Sally (Sean) Marten of Walcott, IA ;12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren one brother Merlin Foresman of Hebron IN, one sister Leatha Hutson of Donahue, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son James, Great Grandson Jackson, siblings Edward Foresman, Elsie Hartman, Betty Ann Williams, James Foresman, Robert Foresman, Mary Jane Hofland, and Ronald Foresman.

She and her husband farmed for many years.  Esther was member of St. Patrick Catholic Church Raritan, IL.  She was also a member of St. Patrick Altar and Rosary Society.  She truly loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.  She won the family competition of who could make the chocolate chip cookies as close to her mothers.  Esther was a quiet person, but she would surprise you with her wit.

Funeral Mass will be August 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St Patrick Catholic Church in Raritan.  Visitation calling hours will begin Sunday August 9, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wise Family Funeral Home in Roseville, the family will not be present.  Burial will be in Ellison Cemetery.
