Don K Melvin

Don K. Melvin, 79, of Ellisville, Ilinois, passed away at 1:10 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. He was born February 12, 1946 in Ellisville the son of Donald and Winifred (Roth) Melvin. He was raised and educated in Ellisville, graduating from Ellisville High School.

He was drafted into the United States Army following high school.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Barbara Walker of Canton, Illinois; children; Dawn Uryasz of Canton, Illinois, Donna Melvin, of Abingdon, Illinois, Adam L. Melvin of Ellisville, Illinois; his ex-wife, Danette Smith of Galesburg, Illinois; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Neal, Malcolm and Gary Melvin.

Don was a tool and die machinist for Norforge in Bushnell until his retirement.

Don enjoyed fishing and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. He was always tinkering with anything that had moving parts. He also enjoyed shooting guns for target practice.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Ellisville Christian Church. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ellisville Christian Church or Ellisville Fire Department and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
