David Timothy Johnston

David T. “Tim” Johnston, 59, of Bushnell, Illinois, passed away at 5:53 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2024 in his home. He was born January 14, 1965 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Albert “Goob” and Eula (White) Johnston. He was raised and educated in both Galesburg and Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School in 1983. During his time at Alexis High School, he excelled in football and track. Setting records and acquiring his well-known nickname, Jello. 

He married Kelly Simkins on December 14, 1984, they had Justine together and later divorced. He married Sue Maloney on September 4, 1993 and she preceded him in death on December 6, 2012. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter; Justine Johnston of North Henderson, Illinois; sons, Neilson Burton of Bushnell and Ben (Jessica) Burton of Macomb; grandchildren, Levi Huffman, Drake Moore, Gage Moore and Bristal Burton; siblings, Patricia Johnston of Burlington, Iowa, Stanley Johnston of Rolla, Missouri, Joseph Johnston of Rogers, Arkansas, Julie Shull of Rio, Illinois. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. 

Tim was an over the road truck driver and did farm work in the Alexis area. He enjoyed snowmobiling and riding dirt bikes. He loved to be outdoors, hunting and fishing. He always had great memories from vacationing in Michigan, with Josiah, Kristina and their girls. He loved his family and friends. Always enjoying whatever time was spent together. 

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Alexis, is handling the arrangements.
