Clara M. Singleton, 89, of Monmouth died 5:30 A.M. Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth. She was born October 23, 1924 in Hillview, Illinois the daughter of Arthur and Edith (Stark) Fry. She was reared and educated in Little York, Illinois. Clara married Herbert Singleton in Monmouth, Illinois on September 17, 1947 and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1987. She was a beautician. She was actively involved in doing manicures at Roseville Nursing Home, Monmouth Nursing Home and F Wing of Community Memorial Hospital. elara was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Monmouth and had served as an volunteer at OSF Holy Family Medical Center. Surviving is one sister Joyce Stripe of Monmouth, along with nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, 3 brothers, Arthur Dean Fry, Wilbur "Bud" Fry and Gerald "Ronnie" Fry, and 2 sisters, Margaret Howell and Genevieve Taylor, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Jim Epperson. Burial will be in Biggsville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be left for the First Christian Church.
