Carol Joyce "Jote" Alecock, 74, of Oquawka, died at 8:00 P.M. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Great River Hospice House, Burlington Iowa.
She was born July 28, 1938 in Oquawka, Illinois the daughter of Harry E and Florence L. (Goff) Alecock. She was raised and educated in Henderson County and graduated from Biggsville High School in 1957.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Case in Burlington for 28 years. She loved working in the yard and was always willing to lend a hand.
Carol was a member of the Oquawka United Methodist Church and the Burlington Eagles Club.
Her family includes eight sisters, Ada Alecock of Oquawaka, Betty Brown of Monmouth, Mary Dowell of Monmouth, Dorothy Day of Erie, IL, Melba (Richard) Welch of Swisher, IA, Maida (Clifford) Johnson of Biggsville, Jean (Eugene) Anderson of Burlington, IA, Sandy (Cecil) Cox of LaHarpe, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Robert, Vern W., Richard, and Harry L.
Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M, Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Hoover Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Jeff Robbins of the Oquawka United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Biggsville Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday morning at the Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where her family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the services.
