Bruce E Shimmin

Bruce E. Shimmin, 65, of Roseville, IL passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at 7:30 a.m. at St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, IL. He was born Sunday, November 6, 1955 in Monmouth, IL. the son of Cecil R. and Evelyn M. Corzatt Shimmin.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Evelyn; four siblings, Lynn (Peggy) Shimmin, Randal (Jane) Shimmin, Celia (Mark) Buss, Ann (Kris) Kappenman; Neices and Nephews, Michelle Aguerrevere, Kendall Shimmin, Randi and Kodiak Shimmin, Jason and Brian Buss, Ashley Ryther, Jennifer, and Kevin Kappenman; 4 great nieces, and nephews;

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, and his father, Cecil.

Bruce attended Warren Achievement until he was 21. He received an Honorary Diploma from Roseville High School in 1977. He participated in Special Olympics with basketball and swimming and competed in swimming in the International Special Olympics.  He also lit the torch at the National Special Olympics in Bloomington, IL. Bruce loved people, animals, and birds. He never met a stranger. He was an avid Cubs and Illini fan. Bruce loved the Warren County Fair. He was a member of the Roseville Methodist Church and the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club.

Due to social distancing limitations related to COVID-19 pandemic, calling hours will be Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Wise Family Funeral Home. Family will not be present. Private family funeral service will be Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roseville United Methodist Church, Roseville, IL. Service will also be broadcasted across FM Station 87.9 within city limits. Burial will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery, Roseville, IL.
