Bonnie I. Brown, 83, of Alexis, died 7:42 P.M. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Unity Point Health Center, Rock Island, IL. She was born January 17, 1931 in Alexis, the daughter of Donald and Hope (Holloway) McKelvey. She was raised and educated in Alexis, where she graduated from Alexis high School and graduated from Augustana College in 1958. Bonnie taught English at Alexis High School for many years. She loved music and had played for many weddings and funerals. She was a member of the Alexis Presbyterian Church where she had served on many committees and was the church organist for many years. She was very active in the Alexis Museum and was very knowledgeable of Alexis history. Those left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law, Ruby McKelvey of Monmouth, three nieces, Rita (Ron) Castor of Rock Island, IL, Leslie Soucinek of Bettendorf. IA and Rhonda (Jack) Massey of Reynolds, IL, and one nephew, Michael (Anita) McKelvey of Monmouth, along with several great nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents, one daughter, Hope Ann Tilley, two brothers, William and Robert and one nephew, Brent McKelvey preceded Bonnie in death. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Alexis Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brian Beert. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday morning at the church, where her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial may be left for the Alexis Presbyterian Church of the Alexis Museum. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at hooverhall.com. Visitation: Friends may call after 9:30 A.M. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Alexis Presbyterian Church where her family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M until the service. Service: Funeral service 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 24, 2014, Alexis Presbyterian Church.
