Betty Wicks, 84, of Monmouth, died 4:35 P.M. Friday, June 21, 2013, at Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth.
She was born October 1, 1928, near Kirkwood, Warren County, Illinois, the daughter of Ora and Edith (Dutton) Allen. She was raised and educated in Warren County and attended Roseville High School.
Betty married Wayne Wicks on April 25, 1945 at Kahoka, Missouri and he preceded her in death on September 12, 2000.
Betty worked at Formfit in Monmouth for 20 years. She also helped her husband with mining clay for Western Stoneware. She did babysitting for several children in her home and taught Sunday School for many years at Immanuel Baptist Church.
She was a member of Countryside Bible Church.
Her family includes a grandson, Michael Dean and several nieces and nephews including Carole Stokes, who was her caregiver, and her loving staff at Monmouth Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, five brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services and committal will be 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth with Rev. Ken Muck of the Countryside Bible Church. Friends may call on Tuesday morning, until the time of service at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be left for Monmouth Nursing Home.
