Betty E. Killip,87, of Galesburg, IL. formerly of Monmouth died at 8:45 P.M. Thursday,
September 19, 2013 at the Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born September 20, 1925 in Fulton County, Illinois the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Powell) Dykeman. She was reared and educated in Roseville and graduated from Roseville High School 1944.
Betty married Dale Killip in Coldbrook on December 2, 1950 and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1997.
Betty received nurses training at St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis. She worked as a LPN and was the administrator for Monmouth Nursing Home for several years, and was on staff for 10 years at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Knoxville, IL. She had served as the Licensed Administrator at the Warren County Home from the 1960's until it's closing.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monmouth.
Surviving are 2 daughter, Amy (Bernie) Damm of Aledo and Sherry (Harry) Sackett of Wisconsin, 2 sons, Tony (Ann) Killip of Wataga, IL and Danny (Susan) Killip of Orrington, Maine, 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Carey Cromer, grandson Alan Gordon, one sister and five brothers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth with Rev. Jim Epperson of the First Christian Church. Burial will be in Roseville Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday morning at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel where her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be left to be designated later.
