Adelia Maxine Perdue

Adelia Maxine Perdue, 87, of Avon, Illinois passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the Seminary Manor of Galesburg, Illinois. She was born January 27, 1939, in Abingdon, Illinois, the daughter of Otis and Mabel (Landon) Schisler. She was raised and educated in Abingdon.

She married Robert K. Perdue on September 26, 1953, in Abingdon and he preceded her in death on February 7, 2012.

Surviving Maxine are her children; Christine (Dan) Massingill of Berwick, Robert (Leatha) Perdue, Jr. of Knoxville, and Thomas (Noreen) Perdue of Avon; grandchildren, James Robert (Lauren) Perdue of Knoxville, IL, Ashley Perdue of Galesburg, IL, Chelsey Perdue of Quincy, IL and Tiffany (Cameron) Wilson of Killeen, TX; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Ella Randal of St. Augustine and Sandy Morris of Texas. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She was a caretaker for Ferry Norcross farm in Avon for many years. She was also a caregiver for Ruth Davis in Avon. Maxine enjoyed sewing, gardening, painting and playing cards. She was a member of the local chapter of TOPS for many years. She also loved to cook and bake and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Avon Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to aid the family with funeral expenses. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
