Barbara J. (Oyler) Bernhart

Barbara J. Bernhart, 94, of Avon, passed away at 10:45 p.m., Sunday, March 31, 2024, in her home. Barbara was born February 3, 1930, in St. Augustine the daughter of Charles Sr. and Bessie (Kilburn) Oyler. She was raised and educated in St. Augustine.

She married Paul Bernhart on February 3, 1950, in Abingdon and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2005.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons; Steven Bernhart of Avon and Ronnie (Kathy) Beckner of Bushnell; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence (Chris) Oyler. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 daughters and 3 siblings.

Barbara was employed with Bluebell sewing factory, Maytag Manufacturing, the Avon School district as a cook and the Prairie City Nursing Home as a cook. She enjoyed flower gardening, especially her yellow roses and quilting with her daughter Paula Jean. She also grew many vegetables and enjoyed canning.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at the funeral home. Visitation will be held Thursday April 4, 2024, from 5pm-7pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Babbitt Cemetery, St. Augustine. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
